James Leroy Allen, 55, of 68859 C.R. 3, Nappanee, died in the Elkhart General Hospital Emergency Room of Natural Causes at 11:12 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 1996.
Mr. Allen was born on April 15, 1941 in Elkhart to Orval and Audrey (Wilcox) Allen. He married Barbara Ely on August 29, 1973. She preceded him in death on Oct. 5, 1985. He married Susan Warstler in September of 1994. He is survived by his wife, Susan; one daughter, Carolyn Nicole Allen; his mother, Audrey Allen of Elkhart, IN; five step-sons: James Ely of Nappanee, IN; Donald Ely of Wakarusa, IN; and David Ely of Nappanee, IN; and Jonathan Wolfe of Elkhart, IN; seven step-daughters: Mrs. Dallas (Diana) Gall of Syracuse, IN; Mrs. Terry (Delores) Stump and Mrs. Tim (Elizabeth) Smith, both of Wakarusa, IN; Mrs. Jack (Janet) Bishop of Paw Paw, MI; Mrs. William (Linda) Corie of Peru, IL; Nancy Ely of Chicago, IL; Mrs. Doug (Denise) Graber of Bristol, IN; one sister, Mrs. Ron (Harriet) Green of Middlebury, IN; 14 step-grandchildren; and his father, Orval Allen preceded him in death.
Mr. Allen was a lifetime area resident. He attended DePauw University. He received a B.A. and Masters in Mathematics from Ball State in 1966, and a Ph.D. from Notre Dame in Economics. He retired from Miles Laboratory. He was a the Director of Acquisition and New Business. Mr. Allen also attended Nappanee Missionary Church.
Funeral Services were held at the Nappanee Missionary Church on Friday, June 28, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. Burial took place at South Union Cemetery. Rev. Terry Bley performed the services, and was assisted by Rev. Joe Focht, both of the Nappanee Missionary Church. Thompson & Yoder Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
