"Funeral For Late E. A. Snapp

Funeral services for Edwin A. Snapp, whose death occurred on Friday afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. Eva B. Davis, in Russellville were held Sunday at 2:30 p. m. at Stetzer's Chapel, with interment in Bethesda cemetery.

The Rev. W. C. Young, of Kingswood School, former pastor of Mr. Snapp at Russellville Presbyterian church, was in charge of the service. Clifton Fisher, talented pianist of Whitesburg, gave a number of Mr. Snapp's favorite selections and served as accompanist for the male quartet composed of Jack Brooks, Frank Floyd, Tom Wright, and Wilbur Noe.

Serving as pallbearers were T. L. Thomason, Charles Patterson, Richard Thomason, Joe Dougherty, Ralph Jones and Eugene Duff.

In charge of flowers were: Mesdames Ralph Jones, Charles Bolton, M. R. Horner, Frank Floyd, and Erbie Helms; Misses Mary Ruth Lane, Josie Thomason, Ida Jarrell and Bertie Massengill.

Mrs. Snapp was a member of an old and prominent East Tennessee family, being a son of the late Dr. Samuel T. Snapp and Henrietta (Proffitt) Snapp. He was born at Russellville July 25th, 1870, being the youngest of three children by this marriage: John P. Snapp and Mrs. Leudivine Snapp Brown who preceded him in death several years ago.

He is survived by two half-sisters, Mrs. Eva B. Davis of Russellville, and Mrs. Abbie Bewley of Morristown, and one half-brother, George C. Bewley of Morristown. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Snapp has spent his entire life in this section of the state and after his retirement from an active business career he opened an antique shop in Russellville. He was an authority on early American furnishings and a love of the fine arts.

His genial personality and deep interest in people endeared him to a large circle of friends, who found him always ready with words of sympathy, in time of trouble and words of encouragement to younger people to secure an education and seek to obtain the best in life.

He was devoted to his relatives and it was his pleasure to be associated with those who were nearest and dearest to him.

Among those called to Russellville and Morristown by the death of Mr. Snapp were Mr. and Mrs. Emery Davis Jr., Oak Ridge; Mr. and Mrs. Fred DeLozier of Sevierville; Misses Mary Brown and Helen Bewley, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Maynard, Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Hopkins and Henry Tyler of Knoxville; Dr. and Mrs. Elmer Pearson, Miss Barbara Pearson and Tyler Pearson of Elizabethton; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bolton of Johnson City, Dr. and Mrs. Lloyd Dyer, Mrs. E. B. Burkey, Dr. Haskell Fox and Frank Brown of Greeneville and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Seahorn and Leon Seahorn of Jefferson City."
