Annie was a physiotherapist. She served as nun, but left the religious life behind. In 1967, she moved in fellow ex-nun childhood friend, Jeanine Deckers (aka as The Singing Nun, Soeur Sourire).Together they founded a school for autistic children, but it failed from lack of funds.
Mentioning their financial difficulties a note, she and Jeanine both committed suicide by an overdose of barbiturates and alcohol. Although they died as suicides, the Catholic Church agreed to a church sevice and burial in consecrated ground. The two friends are buried together.
