Ashtabula, Ohio - Ellen L. Lawson, 82, formerly of Erie, died Saturday.

She was born in Du Bois, PA, April 22, 1900, the daughter of the late Jesse and Anna Dolby Boring, and had lived most of her life in Erie, until she moved to Ohio four years ago.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Martin J. Lawson, in 1977 and by a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Eller.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the 313th Machine Gun Battalion, World War I Veterans Barracks 121 and she was active in the state and national levels of that organization. She had worked a a saleswoman for the S.S. Kresge Company in Erie and was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church when she lived in Erie.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Anne) Hoffman of Leesburg, Florida; a brother Bon Boring of El Paso, Tex; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Brugger Home for Funerals, at 38th St and Greengarden Blvd, this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.; and attend services Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10.
