He married Mary Alice Melrose in Golden Gate, IL on July 2, 1939. They had two daughters.
In Oct. 1941 Charles got a job in Oklahoma through a relative of Mary Alice and began first at Glencliff Creamery where he made ice cream. He went to school to learn aircraft assembly and worked at Douglas Aircraft during W.W.II. He retired after becoming shop manager at Cityglass Company.
Charles was a heavy smoker all his life and died of congestive heart failure.
The family were active members of Northside Church of Christ in Tulsa where Charles was an elder.
