Mrs. LeElla Coffey Dungey, widow of John Dungey, died suddenly about 9 p.m. Monday evening, October 3, 1949 at her home in Lacona. She was 73. Mrs. Dungey is believed to have suffered a sudden heart attack which resulted in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 Thursday afternoon at the Baptist church, Rev. Selden Ward officiating. Preceding the public service, a private prayer service was held at the home.
Burial was in Wesleyan cemetery. Bearers were Robert Lodge, Leon Stowell, Durward Thompson, Harold Tifft, Henry Corse and Walter Cobb.
Mrs. Dungey had always resided in this area, having been born in the Town of Boylston June 2, 1876, daughter of the late John Coffey and Maggie Huycke Coffey. She was married September 21, 1898 to John Dungey of Lacona. Mr. Dungey died October 21, 1942. A brother, Orley Coffey, died July 27, 1948, and her only survivors are cousins.
She was a member of the Sandy Creek and Lacona Baptist church and of the Philathea-Class of that church. She was also a member of Lake Ontario Chapter Order of Eastern Star.
