Nancy Aveline Iles McCain Compton was the youngest child of Willilam Iles, Jr. and Nancy Thompston Iles. Her family came up river from Rapides Parish to Caddo Parish about 1838. Nancy married George Pemberton McCain on Dec. 22, 1852. They had four children. George died in July of 1860, a month after an accident in which he suffered a badly broken leg. On Dec. 19, 1865 Nancy Aveline married James McCain Compton. Nancy Aveline and James had four children. Mrs. N. A. Compton is inscribed on her headstone. Alice Compton Smith ,#85217454 "Find A Grave", was her youngest child. James M.Compton, #30462641 "Cenotaph" "Find A Grave", was her husband. Both of these headstones are located in the Mooringsport Cemetery, Caddo Parish, LA just off Lake Street. Along with B.A. Smith's headstone, #85217453 "Find A Grave", husband of Alice Compton Smith, and Nancy Aveline's son in law.
