The Rev. Aaron Toney, 77, of 213 Jones St. died Wednesday in Limestone County. The funeral will be Wednesday at noon at St. Elizabeth C.P. Church in America with the Rev. Hosea Garrett officiating.
Burial will be in Faith Memorial Park with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Rev. Toney was pastor of the Mount Zion C.P. Church in America and the Bright Hope C.P. Church in America, both in Limestone County. He served as moderator for the Huntsville Presbytery for 36 years and worked at the Booker T. Washington Insurance Co. for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Moddie Gladys Toney; two sons, Thomas L. Toney Sr. and the Rev. Roosevelt Toney Sr., both of Huntsville; three sisters, Ellease Miller of Decatur, Jo Willie Harris of Michigan and Johnnie Mae River of California; a brother, Alvin Toney of Birmingham; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon at St. Elizabeth C.P. Church.
