Mrs. Smith died Sunday, April 9, 1989 at North Claiborne Hospital in Haynesville after a short illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haynesville and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton G. Smith; one daughter, Odelle Branton and three brothers.
She is survived by five sons, Ferrell Smith of Carthage, Texas, Arnold Smith of Longview, Texas, Elson Smith and Preston Smith both of Haynesville, and Jerry Smith of Ennis, Texas; one brother, Roland Sanders of Haynesville; two sisters, Prairie Belle Bacon of Magnolia, Arkansas and Jessieline Yates of Magnolia, Ark., 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
