Death of Mrs. John Bay

Mrs. John Bay, who has for the past year been a suffer from cancer died this morning at her home on East Sixth avenue, The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the First Christian church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. P. Lucas. The interment will be made in Maplewood cemetery.

Mrs. John Bay is Dead.

Mrs. John Bay living on East Sixth avenue died Friday at 12 o'clock. The funeral services took place at the First Christian church Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and were conducted by Rev. J. P. Lucas.

Mrs. John Bay was born in Michigan, October 22, 1846. Her parents moved west and after living in Iowa for a number of years moved to Kansas where she was married to Mr. John Bay in 1857. Her mother died soon after, but her father is still living in Bedford, Ia. She also has a brother living in Erie, and Waldon, N.Y. Her one sister is Mrs. J. P. Crows, who lives nineteen miles south of town on the Verdigris river. She is the mother of four children; all of whom live in Emporia. They are Mrs. W. R. Hagler, Herbert E. Bay, Bertha, the 11 year-old daughter and John, aged 2 years.

In the death of Mrs. Bay the husband loses a kind and loving helpmate, the church loses conscientious Christian , and the community loses a worthy member. Yet the little children sustain the greatest loss. The sorrowing family has everyone's sympathy in their great affliction.

Mr. and Mrs. Bay are among the oldest settlers in Emporia. Mr. Bay came here in 1856.
