Nelson Dickerman lived first at East Wallingford, Vt., removed about 1834 to Ashtabula Co, Ohio and again in 1836 to Greenfield, Ill, where he homesteaded three miles north of Greenfield and died there. He was the son of LYMAN & ABIGAIL (BUTTON) DICKERMAN and his ancestory goes back to THOMAS DICKERMAN who came to Dorchester from England in the 1600's.
Nelson Dickerman married Hannah Vaughn in 1828 in Vermont. Hannah, his wife is listed on the above monument but she is buried in the Morhous Cemetery in Willsboro, New York beside her sister, Amy.
Nelson & Hannah Dickerman were the parents of six children:
Nelson Warren Dickerman, Lyman R. Dickerman, Major Warren Dickerman, Sarah Olivia (Dickerman) Collins, Austin Thomas Dickerman, and my grandmother, AMANDA LOUISE (DICKERMAN) ZINK.
