Died, at his home in Cass Township, March 11, 1890, Elijah Pierce, aged 79 years. The deceased was born in East Tennessee, removing from there to Davidson County, and from the latter place to Sangamon county Ill., in 1826. He was married to Cynthia Nance in 1832. He joined the church in 1842. Shortly after he was ordained an Elder by Walter Bowsel and afterwards ordained a preacher by Wickliff Taylor, moving to Iowa in 1861. He leaves an aged wife, 9 children and many friends to mourn his loss.
