William Dupell enlisted aged 19 in the 69th Pa.Infantry 19th Aug. 1861 at Philadelphia and mustered in same day.
Dupell was a prolific letter writer and sent many letters home to his mother in Philadlephia. These letters are a very good source of information for researchers on the day to day existence of the men of the 69th.
Sadly in May 1862 he contracted typhoid and died in Yorktown Hospital 21st May of that year.
