Veteran of the War of 1812

Asa Critchfield was born Jan 18, 1788 at Independence, Washington County, PA. He died about 1866 at 77 years of age. He married Ruth Manchester in Washington County, PA, about 1800. About 1815 they moved to Ohio and settled at Nashville, Ohio, in Holmes County. Later they moved to a farm four miles east of the Nashville village. A few years later he received 80 acres of land from his father, upon which he laid out the town site of Napoleon. He had 11 children: Albert, born 1807; Owen, born 1813; Asa Jr., born 4/10/1816; James, born 1819; Jacob, borborn 1821; John, born 1827; Ruth, born 1833; Hannah, born 4/1828; Isaac, born 4/1828; Sarah, born 1835, and Phoebe. He was a farmer and a cooper. He was a Justice of the Peace for many years, a political person. He died in 1866 and is buried in the Nashville Cemetery, Holmes Co., Ohio. His wife died in 1872, and is buried beside her husband.
There is a Napoleon, Ohio, in Henry County in the northwestern part of the state, but I am not sure if this is the "Napoleon" that Asa laid out. Nashville is in the northwest quarter of Holmes County, Ohio.
