Blanche Leone preferred to be known as Leone Alexander.

1920 Census: Single, age 18, living with mother, Daisy B. and sister Maretta in Rochester, Olmstead Co., Minnesota. No occupation.

1930 Eveleth City, St. Louis County, Minnesota Federal Census,
I had previously missed locating Blanche Leone in the 1930 Census because she is listed as, 'Brone B. Furtney. The enumerator had started to write Blanche but Leone corrected him as she preferred Leone - consequently due to erasures, the first name was not clearly deciphered.
Furtney, Leone B., roomer, female, white, age 25, single, is not attending school, able to read and write, born in Minnesota, father and mother born in Minnesota, occupation: Librarian, and is working.

Note: In August 1930 Blanche returned from a trip to Europe, arriving in Quebec, Canada on Aug 17, 1930 from Southampton England aboard the SS Ascania. On Aug 18, 1930 she arrived in Malone New York; per Border Crossings: From Canada to U.S., 1895-1956; ancestry.com

LEONE ALEXANDER
LINCOLNVILLE - Leone Furtney Alexander of Lincolnville died May 19, 2005, after a short illness. She would have been 101 in June.
Born in Austin, Minn., she was a graduate of the University of Minnesota, did post-graduate work in library science, and became a librarian.
She was married for more than 40 years to Fay K. Alexander, MD., who predeceased her in 1972. They built a home in Lincolnville in 1958, and made many good friends in the area.
An avid reader, Mrs. Alexander, had a weekly reading group at her home. She was active in the Hospital Auxiliary, and was a past president. She also enjoyed birding and travel, visiting many parts of the world.
She is survived by her two sons, William and his wife, Julia of Albion; and Knight and his wife, Marjorie of Marblehead, Mass; as well as four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
If a remembrance is desired, a donation to the Camden Public Library, Nature Conservancy on the charity of one's choice is suggested.
