The entire cruise of the Perry was free from accident or fatality of any sort. The cutter reports that early in September Dr. Vose, the physician at St. Pauls Island, met with an accident which resulted in his death a few days later. The team of mules Dr. Vose was driving ran away, throwing him out on his head. Concussion of the brain followed and two days later he died from his injuries. Dr. Vose was one of Alaska's pioneers and best known surgeons.
