Richard Davis, 76, of Shawnee, died Match 1, 2011, in Ada.

Richard was born July 30, 1934, in Shawnee to Oral Arthur Davis and Lucy (Coker) Davis.

She graduated from Prairie Valley High School in 1952.

Richard retired from Tinker Air Force Base in March of 1993 after 41 years of faithful service.

He also served our nation as a warrant officer in the Army National Guard.

Oral "Richard" Davis married Mary Davis in Shawnee June 4, 1955. Mary passed away July 12, 2009. Richard married Latrelle Ellis Feb. 14, 2010.

Richard was active in his children's activities and a leader for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He also coached little league baseball and basketball. He often was "roped into helping with Camp Fire activities. Richard enjoyed cheering at his grandson Luke's sporting events which included ice hockey.

He also loved to cheer at his granddaughter Kaleigh's T-balls games. Richard's hobbies included woodcarving, bowling, rock hounding, fishing, birding, traveling, crafting and camping. Richard and his son-in-law and grandson loved to attend Blazer hockey games and created their own small knit fan club. Richard helped start the woodcarver's club at the Shawnee Senior Center. He gave lessons in woodcarving for several years. Richard both displayed and sold his woodwork and carving at a variety of arts and craft fairs around the nation. Richard delivered meals on wheels and coordinated Operation Christmas for several years. Richard attended the 1st Assembly of God Church in Shawnee and Tecumseh. He was a charter member of the Evangelistic Center and later attended Liberty Baptist Church of Shawnee. Most recently he attended services with his wife Latrelle at the Church of Christ, of Konawa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Davis.

Survived by wife, Latrelle Davis, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Kendal Ward, of Edmond; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Richard and Leslie Davis, of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Ron Davis, of Mannford; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Jim Davis, of Pocola, and Linda and Gerald Nowlin, of Bethel; two grandchildren, Luke Ward, of Edmond, and Kaleigh Davis, of Tulsa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will gather to meet with friends Friday, March 4, 2011, at Cooper Funeral Home.

Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Currens, Rev. Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, of Tecumseh.
