December 22, 2004:

Shawnee resident Lucy Coker Davis, 97, died Sunday, Dec 19, at her home.
She was born March 10, 1907, in Seviervill, Tenn., to Richard and Laura (Trotter)Coker.
Davis attended school at Valley View and graduated from Bethel High School in 1926. She attended East Cemtral College.
On June 29, 1932, she married Oral A. Davis in Okemah. He proceded her in death in 1975. Davis was a teacher. She later worked in Mothers Day Out programs at Forst Presbyterian Church and Wesley Methodist Church. She also worked at Tinker Air Force Base.
She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was a childrens teacher there for many years. She lived in the Shawnee and Bethel area most of her life.
She was also proceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, John, Eilbur, Milburn, R.K., Glen D., Claude, and the Rev. Charles Coker; two sisters, Zo;a Coker and Una Coba.
Survivors unclude son Richard Davis of Shawnee; two daughters, Linda Davis Nowlin of Bethel and Marilyn Davis Davis of Pocola; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. John Coker and the Rev. Sam Hendry officiating.
Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. The casket will remain open until service time and will not be opened after the sservice.
Memorials amy be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund.
