Callie was the sixth of seven children born to Reuben G. (burial site unknown) and Mary Elizabeth Starnes Adkins. Callie's siblings were Thomas Morgan #67569533, Elvira May #20770300, Corilla Gertrude, George W. #87390019, Catherine E. "Katie" #25095715, and Maria Antonett "Nettie" #63488308.
Sometimes in the year 1878, 10 months after the youngest daughter, Nettie, was born Reuben died, possibly of yellow fever, leaving his wife, Mary and six children.
The family stayed together for some time living in the Saint Landry Parish area. Elvira and Thomas continued their married life in this area. It is not known what happened at this time to Corilla and George went out on his own, fought in the Spanish American war, married and lived in Montana. Mary and the younger girls lived with Mary's siblings in Texas until the girls married. Katy moved from sibling to sibling and never married.
Callie met and married John Edgar "Edd" Harrell in 1897 while she was living in Ore City, Texas with her Uncle Finis Ewing Starnes. There were eight children born to this marriage, Nona, Arthur Edgar "Son", Reuben Thomas, Beulah Mae, Katy Clyde, Sybil Louvenia, Minnie Opal and Barney Buford. The family lived most of their lives in Upshur County, Texas.
Callie was the granddaughter of Thomas M. #97020395 and Mary Margaret Wade Adkins #41002493.
