Abraham Conkling was the youngest of 9 children of Stephen Conkling, Sr. (1721-1791), a Revolutionary War Veteran, and his first wife Deborah (Dimon) Conkling (1724-1774).
Abraham's baptism is recorded at The First Presbyterian Church in Morristown, New Jersey. Abraham was baptized there on September 29, 1765. It is in this same churchyard where Abraham's parents are both buried. Two of his brothers are buried in that same cemetery.
Abraham married Jemima Lindsley on February 11, 1789 in Morristown, New Jersey. This marriage produced 10 children. Most of the children were born in New Jersey before the family moved west to Ohio.
