Deborah was the eldest of three children of her parents Jonathan and Sarah (Salmon) Dimon from East Hampton, Suffolk County, New York on Long Island. She married Stephen Conkling on September 3, 1747 with whom she had 9 children. The children with missing memorials are mentioned on her husband's memorial page.

Deborah came to Morris County, New Jersey with her husband and her four eldest children in 1752. She died 22 years later at the early age of 49. Her husband did remarry to widow Abigail (Harris) Mitchell who served as hostess and support to Stephen, during the Revolutionary War effort, including entertaining General George Washington in their Morristown, New Jersey home.
