Alice McCrady, age 87, died Wednesday June 6, 2012 in Davis, Oklahoma. She was born at home on June 15, 1924 in rural Woods County, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by husband, Edd Sneary, mother, Maude Highfill Benson, father, Elza Benson, brothers, Donald Benson and Harold Benson, and sisters Louella Sternberger, Faye Hager and Joan Hall.

She is survived by her son Jerry Sneary, daughter Janet Crouch, sister Marion Jean Hatcher, brother Jim Benson, 5 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Alice attended rural Woods County grade schools. She was valedictorian of the class of 1942 at Horace Mann High School in Alva, Oklahoma. She married Edd Sneary on July 19, 1942. They lived in Alva until his death in 1980. In 1959, Edd and Alice bought the Mercury new car dealership which became known as Sneary Motor Co.

Alice was active in the school activities of their children, Jerry and Janet. She was especially active in Girl Scouts. She later enjoyed league bowling, and was active in the Order of Eastern Star. Alice was very dedicated to her family and the business. She was a really good cook, an avid gardener, a great seamstress, and a wonderful mom.

The family requests memorials be given to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation or the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, June 11, in the First Presbyterian church in Alva, Oklahoma. Interment will be in the Alva Cemetery following the service.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Jerry Sneary.
