Daughter of Stella May (Parker) and Martin Alexander Highfill. She attended the Star Rural Grade School and helped on the farms in the area.

She married Elza Albert Benson on February 14, 1917 in Alva and they were the parents of nine children. He passed away on April 1, 1942. Following their marrige, they lived on a farm west of Alva. She moved to alva shortly after his death. She worked at Wright's Cafe, Nall's Cafe, W. D. Myers Sr., Omar Hill and then for C. R. Anthony Company for over 35 years.

She married Charles Robbins on November 20, 1954 and they made their home in Alva. He passed away in 1965.
