A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Md.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Bernard died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at Veterans Medical Center in Martinsburg, W. Va.
He was self-employed for 26 years as an auto body repair specialist in Beltsville, Md. Mr. Bernard was a World War II veteran and a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and the East Orange Ruritans Club.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Jean Bernard; two daughters, Nancy Bernard Whetzel of Unionville and Diane Pittman of Selma, N.C.; a son, Virgil Bernard Jr. of Rhoadesville; four sisters, Gertrude Krontz of Brooklyn, Md., Louise Bostwick of San Marco, Calif., Marie Knox of Fairmont, W.
