Rev. Robert D. Addington, 89 of Northampton, PA, died Friday September 2, 2011, at Lizas House Personal Care Home in Danielsville, PA. He was the husband of Ellen Louise (Fuller), together they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last December 19, 2010.
Born in Hartford City, IN, he was the son of the late Orris and Fern (Jester) Addington. Rev. Robert was the Assistant Pastor Emeritus at Bethany Wesleyan Church, Cherryville, PA for the past 22 years. He formerly retired in 1991. He served many congregations during his tenure including: Flint, MI, Lock Haven, PA, Fort Wayne, IN, and Sayre, PA. He was proud to have been elected and to have served asthe District Superintendent of the Western Pennsylvania District of the Wesleyan Church for over 15 years.
Survivors: Along with his wife Ellen Louise are three sons, Donald P. Addington, and wife Kim, of Atlanta, GA, Rev. Dwight L. Addington, and wife Carla, of Northampton, PA, DeWayne D. Addington, and wife Ann-Farrar, of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Mrs. Jean Hayes of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren, Michelle Doughty, Donald Jr., Joshua, Wesley, Taylor, and Ellie Addington; four great-great-grandchildren, Jack and Sam Doughty, Lucas Addington, and Lousie Doughty.
Services: 4 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the Bethany Wesleyan Church, 675 Blue Mountain Drive, Cherryville, PA 18035. Calling hours will be Saturday, September 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, September 4, from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to services both in the church. Arrangements are being handled by Schisler Funeral Home, Inc., 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, PA 18067. Rev. Dr. Harry F. Wood and Rev. Kevin Fetterhoff will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
