Mrs. Della Kane, widow of William Kane and resident of Grand Island for 45 years, died Friday evening in a local hospital following a prolonged illness. She had been critically ill the last ten weeks. Mrs. Kane made her home at 237 North Boggs street.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in the Livingston - Sondermann Funeral Home. Dr. Alton O. Kaul, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church will conduct services. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 o'clock Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kane was born Jan. 21, 1876, on a homestead in Lancaster county to Mr. and Mrs. George Skaggs. During her youth, the family resided in Lancaster county, and later at Beatrice and at Cortland.
She and Mr. Kane were married in March, 1896, at Rockport, Mo. They began their home near Rock Port. Then after a residence at Shenandoah, Ia., they came to Grand Island in 1910. Mr. Kane died July 7, 1943.
Mrs. Kane was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by four sons, Murel W. Kane and Paul Kane, both of Grand Island, Stephen Kane of Portland, Ore., and Vale Kane of Lincoln; one brother, Edgar Skaggs, Los Angeles; four sisters, Pearl Skaggs of East St. Louis, Ill., Florence Moore of Savannah, Mo., Lena Hyde of Goodrich, Tex., and Cora Horn of Concordia, Kan.; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
