Surrounded by family and friends, Barbara Jean Hatfield Skaggs, 72, of Scarbro, WV joined the Heavenly Host and received her Angel Wings Saturday, October 18, 2003 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV.
Born November 24, 1930 at Turkey Knob, WV she was the daughter of the late Luther and Bertha Holstein Hatfield.
Mrs. Skaggs was a member of the Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, Oak Hill, WV, Special thanks and appreciation to Linda Kuebler and Hazel Kinsler for the love and support they have given Barbara and her family in the past and present.
She was preceded in death by her two sons, Douglas Keith Skaggs and Clinton Dales Skaggs, Jr.; and by two sisters, Sarah Hatfield and Kathleen Woodson.
Mrs. Skagss was the loving and devoted wife, for 52 years, of Clinton Dale Skaggs. Mother to Sandra J. (Merchant) Shrewsbury and Margaret "Peggy" Armstrong. She was a caring mother-in-law to Venton Shrewsbury and Bo Pettry. Along with being a dedicated grandmother to Kara Merchant, Sara Merchant, Brianna Merchant, Bradley Armstrong and RaeAnn Pettry and great grandmother to Jim and Katie Mae Polly.
She is also survived by two devoted sisters, Maxine Sizemore and Norma Smith, countless loving nieces, nephews and cousins and her church family.
Visitation will be held at Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, Oak Hill on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm
Services will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church in Oak Hill with Rev. Bill Menefee and Rev. Wayne Peters officiating. Burial will be at Skaggs-McVey Cemetery., Victor WV
Pallbearers will be Venton Shrewsbury, Bo Pettry, Bradley Armstrong, Bobby Carter, Benji Conner and James Skaggs, Jr.
