Norma Elizabeth Hatfield Smith



OAK HILL ? Norma Elizabeth Hatfield Smith, 68, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, following a short illness.


Born March 3, 1938, at Sun, WV, a daughter of the late Luther and Bertha May Holstine Hatfield.


Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a former clerk for Family Dollar in Oak Hill.


Norma was a member of the Red Star Baptist Church and Winolia Chapter No. 59 OES formerly of the Oak Hill Chapter No. 107.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Samuel Smith Sr.; a daughter, Gequetta Duncan; and four sisters, Sarah Hatfield, Kitty Woodson, Jean Skaggs and Lora Sizemore.


Survivors include five daughters, Darlene Pruden of Norfolk, Va., Betty Smith of Oak Hill, Kathy Mason of Oak Hill, Ronetta Davis of South Carolina, and Libby Aaron of Oak Hill; four sons, Ronald Smith Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, Darrell Smith of Columbus, Ohio, Gene Smith of Oak Hill and Bill Smith of Oak Hill; 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.


Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Randy Sunderland and the Rev. Ronnie Persinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.


Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, where an OES service will be held at 7 p.m.
