Rebecca Carr was born in Ireland; her birth year varies on census reports; I am using the year of 1818 since that is given by her cemetery listing. She was definitely a few years younger than her husband John Davis, who was born in 1806, and whom she married at a very young age. They came to America and lived in New York, then came by covered wagon to Wisconsin, and later established a home in southeastern Minnesota, in Houston County. John Davis had a son Richard Steven Davis who was born in Marble, New York, but Rebecca Carr Davis could not have been his mother since Richard was born in 1826, which would make her only about 9 or 10 years old. This son also lived in Houston Co, MN.
At any rate, Rebecca and John Davis made a home and raised a family of at least six children. Their youngest son, Henry A. Davis, drowned at the age of 21 years, in 1881. He is buried in this cemetery as are Rebecca and John Davis. Rebecca died as a result of a tumor in 1883, and John died in 1895.
