Leland L. Headrick, 92, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, in a St. Joseph hospital.

He was born March 22, 1920, in Burlington Junction, Mo., son of Gertrude and Clarence Headrick. He married Betty McClanahan on March 20, 1949, at Wyatt Park Baptist Church.

He worked at the St. Joseph Stockyards as a Livestock Commission agent, he also was a farmer. He enjoyed farming, talking about his cattle and the weather. He also enjoyed attending the weekly cattle auction at the stockyards. He was very active in the Buchanan County 4-H and received state recognition for his 4-H participation and leadership.

Leland was a member of Masonic Lodge #470 A.F. & A.M. of Maryville, Mo., since 1946 and a member of the King Hill Baptist Church.

Leland was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edwin Headrick; two sisters, Mildred Suter and Luella Moehring.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Headrick, of the home; two daughters, Jane Koogler and husband, Fred of Pella, Iowa, Nancy Headrick of Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Jerry Headrick and wife, Deborah of Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Vera Williams of Maryville, Irene Renshaw of Maryville; brother, James Headrick of Overland Park, Kan.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Rupp Chapel, with Pastor Aaron Robb officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
