HAMPTON, C. L., 85, of Galax, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Elliott Hampton of Galax; a son, Elliott Kemper Hampton of Columbia, Tenn.; two daughters, Charlotte Howell Thompson of Waynesboro, Ga. an Marianna Hampton Swaim of Salisbury, N.C.; grandchildren, Sarah Hampton, Elizabeth Hampton, Mary Houston Hampton, MacGregor Thompson, Allison Swaim, Devereaux Swaim and Ian Swaim. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nelson Woody and Rev. Ann Blair officiating. Burial will follow in Hampton Cemetery.
