Donald McLean was born Oct. 31, 1811 in Scotland. One of the death record's of his son's indicate the birthplace as the Isle of Mull, which is the historic Clan MacLean land. Donald was married to Mary Patterson in Nova Scotia, likey in Cape Breton, where Mary was born Oct 10,1821 to Neil Patterson and Flora Beaton who came to Boularderie, Cape Breton about 1820 from the Isle of Coll, Argyll Scotland. In 1861 Donald and Mary and family are located in Fullarton, Perth Ontario, and in 1881 in Colbourne, Huron Center, Ontario. By the early 1880's the McLean family migrated to Chase, Michigan. Here Donald died Jan. 31 1895 from influenza. After this time Mary moved to be near daughter Nellie Surbrook in Sanilac County, where she died Oct 30, 1909, and buried in Croswell Cemetey.
