Verlin Witt Services Friday
Funeral services were held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Seydler-Hill chapel for Verlin Witt, who died at his home at 228 Fair Street, Thursday at 1:40 a.m.
The Rev. Herman Murph, pastor of the First United Methodist church, officiated at the last rites with burial in the Woodmen cemetery.
Mr. Witt was born in Gonzales on May 23, 1922, the son of William F. and Zella Nagel Witt, natives respectively of Industry and McQueeney. He was married on a June 7, 1947, to Virginia Belle Neubauer, and was a member of the First United Methodist church. He attended Texas Lutheran College and graduated from the University of Texas Pharmacy School in 1948. He formerly owned and operated Witt's Pharmacy. Serving with the United State Navy during World War II, he was a member of the American Legion Post No. 40, and the Gonzales Veof Foreign Wars, No. 4817.
He was also a member of the Gonzales Lion's Club, the Rlks Lodge, Independence Golf Association, the Quarter Back Club, Texas Pharmaceutical Association, and the South Texas Old Timers Baseball Amatuer League.
Survivors are his widow; his mother of Gonzales; two daughters, Mrs. Royce (Terry) Towns, Jr., of Belmont; Miss Trixi Witt of Gonzales; one son, Tommy Witt of Gonzales, two grandchildren, Royce Towns, III, and Tiffany Towns, both of Belmont; and one brother, Randy Witt of Gonzales. The family requests that in place of flowers, memorials be made to favorite charities.
