James Otha Ledford passed away at his home at the age of 70 with his loving family by his side Saturday, May 26, 2012 after a long courageous battle with pulmonary disease.

James was born May 15, 1942 in Center, Texas to Walter Jack and Audrey Ledford.

He spent his youth in his beloved East Texas before joining the U.S. Army in 1958, honorably discharging as a Vietnam Veteran 10 years later. While stationed in Heidelberg, Germany he met his beloved German Fraulein, whom he married and together they began their life journey going on to celebrate 50 years of marriage.

Upon settling in Lake Jackson in 1962, James began his lifelong career for Dow Chemical where he went on to work for 35 years, retiring in 2003.

After retirement you would find James spending his time enjoying hunting and fishing and occasionally traveling back to Germany with his wife.

One of his greatest passions in life was the special bond and love he shared with his grand-daughter, she will miss spending time with her "Opa" James.

James was preceded in death by his father, Walter Jack Ledford and his step-father, Eldon Newton; grandparents Otha Ledford and Lela Peace, and grandparents Stuart and Evie Anderson.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, of Lake Jackson, daughter, of Conroe, son, of Lake Jackson, grand-daughter, of Conroe, Mother, of Lufkin, brother, of Brazoria, sisters, brothers and sisters in-law of Germany, as well as many loving nieces and nephews who will all miss their special Uncle James.

Memorial service will be held Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Stroud Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Drs for their patience in providing care and comfort to James and his family during his lengthily illness.
