Mr. Walter Jack Ledford, known as "Smiling Jack," age 85, of Grapeland, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007 at his residence in Grapeland. Mr. Ledford was born April 29, 1922 in Shelby County, Texas and was a resident of Grapeland. Mr. Ledford was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during World War II. Mr. Ledford was retired from Northcutt Woodworks.
Survivors include his James sons Ledford and wife Brita, Lealond Ledford and wife Dorothy, Jerry Ledford and wife Debbie; daughters Pat Cook and husband Wayland, Linda Shaw and son-in-law Ronnie Shaw, Doris Lowery and husband Billy, Carol Manley and husband Sheryl; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; beloved dog Frenchie.
Preceded in death by his father Otha Ledford; mother Lela Peace; step-father Ollie Peace; and great-grandson, Dylan Strawn.
Funeral Services for Mr. Walter Jack Ledford, "Smiling Jack" were held Wednesday, May 16, at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Mr. Jerry Ledford and Mr. Bill Lowery officiating. Interment followed in the Grounds Cemetery.
