A FAITHFUL SERVANT

They are burying Harvey Alexander today--a good and faithful servant of this town. For years he was city clerk, and a good one. He knew more about city affairs in the nineties and in the first decade of this century than any other man; for he kept his job through changing administrations.

Mr. Alexander was an old soldier--a veteran of the Civil War, and in his prime, was a fine, upstanding figure of a man--a man of high honor, who had old-fashioned chivalric ideas of duty and civic responsibility. No other kind of man could have come out of a long term of responsibility as a public servant as he came unstained and with a blameless record. There was no one to check him but his own high sense of obligation. For mayors and councils came and went but he remained.

Fine, faithful, capable, honorable gentleman he was, and when he enters the Kingdom, he will feel at home among the highest there.
