A Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Dorothy "Dot" Reed Berkenmeier, 79, who died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana in Lafayette.
Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.
Pastor Ty Cook, Senior Pastor of Lighthouse Family Church in Lafayette, will officiate.
Dorothy was born Monday, January 2, 1933 in Opelousas and was a lifetime resident of Acadiana. "Dot" and her late husband, Bill, were the Owner's and Operators of Safety, Environmental and Operational Training, Inc. since 1992. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette, Eastern Star and the Bellsouth retiree's Pioneers Club. "Dot" also owned and operated the Linen House.
"Dot" was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed.
Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Myra Van Arsdale and her husband Jim of Lafayette; three step-daughters, Connie Gannon and her husband Scott of Mansfield, Jane Ann Berkenmeier of St. Josephs, MO and Julie Berkenmeier of Palestine, TX; two step-sons, Craig Berkenmeier and his wife, Mary of Lafayette and Jeff Berkenmeier of Olthe, KS; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and countless dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Slurry Reed and the former Eva LeDoux; her loving husband, J. W. "Bill" Berkenmeier; a daughter Karen Hoffpaiur; and two grandchildren, Angelique Mare' Hebert and Craig William Berkenmeier, Jr.
Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and resumes Monday, June 4, 2012 at 9 a.m. until time of services.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Berkenmeier, Jarrod Berkenmeier, Daniel J. Daigle, Douglas Daigle, Craig Berkenmeier and Jim Van Arsdale.
