The attached obituary, submitted by Anna O'Quinn Richter, states Mrs. Lewis died 1/25/1912. However, another obituary in the Keowee Courier, 1/31/1912, follows: (out of context) Mrs. Kate Perry Lewis, dead. She passed away at Spartanburg, S.C., "last Wednesday" (1/24/1912). She had been in declining health for some time. Mrs. Lewis had resided in Spartanburg for the past 3 years, though she had always regarded Walhalla, S.C. as her home and she frequently visited friends and relatives here until her health made that impossible.

Mrs. Lewis was the 5th child of the late (Capt.)William and Margaret Perry, who resided in Walhalla for many years. She was born in Pendleton, Anderson County, S.C., on March 12, 1854, and it was a few years later her parents moved to Walhalla, where they remained until their death.

In 1891, she was happily married to Richard Lewis, the Probate Judge for Oconee County. Judge Lewis died in 1892.

Mrs. Lewis was in a family of 12 children and she is survived by 10 of her brothers and sisters; Mrs. E.G. Roberts of Chattanooga, TN; Mrs. J.W. Keys of Charlotte, NC; Mrs. S.K. Dendy of Walhalla, SC; William G. Perry of Greenville; Walter Perry of Spartanburg; J.A. Perry of Clayton, AL; Louis E. Perry of Asheville, NC; Charles W. Perry of Greenville; George D. Perry of NC; and Miss Carrie Perry of Sumter, SC. One sister died in infancy.

The remains of Mrs. Lewis were brought to Walhalla for interment in West View Cemetery.

A Probate Notice was in the Keowee Courier, Walhalla, SC, 2/7/1912. Her brother, Louis E. Perry was appointed Administrator of her estate.

Kate's father's obituary was in the Morning Call newspaper in New Jersey, July 1907. It said his parents were James and Ellen Perry.
