Grace was the daughter of James Owen Mendenhall and Hesse Roxanna Northam. She married Virgil Thomas Moore March 3, 1897 in Marshall County, Iowa. She died of peritonitis following the birth of her third child, Wilma Grace. Her body was shipped from Rifle, Colorado to Bangor, Iowa for burial in the Bangor Friends Cemetery, where her maternal grandparents are also buried.
