Eleda M. Schroeder, 101, formerly of Kempton PA passed away in her residence at the Lutheran Home at Topton, PA on August 2, 2009. She was preceeded in death by her husband Ira J. Schroeder in 1985. She was born in Albany Township, a daughter of the late Earl E. and Irene M. (Bailey) Bond.

Her and her husband were the operators of the former Berks & Lehigh Telephone exchange, operating from their residence in Kempton, PA from 1932 to 1945 when it was purchased by the Lycoming Telephone Co. and later Verizon Telephone Co. She was the oldest member of the Lutheran Congregation of Jerusalem Red Church-Kempton, PA.

Survivors: Two sons; Arlan R. Schroeder and his wife Carole and Dennis J. Schroeder and his wife Charlotte, both of Kutztown, PA. And a foster brother, Vernon Bailey and his wife Dorothy of Bechtelsville, PA. Six grandchildren; Kimberly Ring, Karen Fleisher, Kenneth & Kyle Schroeder and Joy Schroeder and Karlin Mbah. Six great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by a infant son, Luke Ira Schroeder in 1928.

Services: Funeral services Thursday August 6, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Jerusalem Red Church, 15 Red Church Road, Kempton, PA with a calling hour beginning at 10:00 AM. Mr. Robert J. Billig, Jr., officiating Burial adjoining cemetery.
