Mary Ann, daughter of Elias and Milly Jane Lindley, was born in Orange County, Indiana, August 1st, 1858, departed this life near the sinking sub, June 24th, 1922, at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 24 days.
She was the youngest of a family of five children, all of whom but her sister, Mrs. William Lindley of Bloomington, Indiana and Enoch T. Lindley of Homer, Illinois, have preceded her to the great beyond.
She came to Parke County with her parents when a child, attended the schools in Orange County and at Rush Creek, On July 31, 1886, she was united in marriage to Robert F. Dove, who were devoted to each other through life.
Six sons were born to this union all are present today - Grover, of East Palestine, Ohio.; Oscar of Palestine, Illinois; Hansel, of Hillsboro, Indiana.; Gilbert, of Indianapolis, Indiana; Frank and Floyd, of Akron, Ohio.
She was a birthright member of the Friends church, and on the 1st day of January, 1879, she had a remarkable experience of conversion through the prayer of a little nephew around the altar at her sister's home and she was blessed with a deeper experience about eleven years ago and ever since that time has walks in the light as she understood it, and set an example of patience and love for her family and had an earnest desire for the salvation of their souls.
During her affliction near four years ago, she was patient and kind; often, after she was unable to express herself in words she would manifest her appreciation with a smile. Her husband who patiently cared for her testifies he never in all her afflictions saw her in the least manifest an unkind spirit. He attentively devoted his faithful care of her a greater part of the time, and in a measure realizes his loss is her eternal gain. Her sons, whom she cherished deeply and who were kind to their mother, "Rise up and call her blessed".
Besides her husband, sons, sister and brother, are nine grandchildren, three daughters-in-law, a number of nephews, nieces and relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
