Fortunato (Frank) Romo Padilla Resident of Martinez Fortunato (Frank) Romo Padilla, 87, died June 15, 2010 at home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born June 11, 1923 in Port Costa, the son of the late Catalina and Jose Padilla. He was the middle child of 6 children. On December 28, 1957 he married Pas (Frances) Quintero, who survives him. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in the third wave of the Invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. He served for 4 years, and was a twice decorated veteran. He was employed after the war by a refinery contractor, Oscar Erickson, Inc., where he worked as a well-liked foreman and retired in 1978 after 32 years. He was an active member of the Sociedad Catolica Regional "Guadalupana" and St. Catherine's Church for many years. He volunteered his time to maintain the church's cemetery. He enjoyed dancing, walking, fishing, and was an avid 49ers fan dating back to Kezar Stadium. He is survived by his 5 children: daughters Renee Orgazan (Skip) of Vallejo, Odell Espinoza of Suisun City, and Rebecca Padilla; sons Jose Padilla (Lisa), and Jaime Padilla of Martinez; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister Marcelina Morales of Crockett. Mr. Padilla was preceded in death by his brothers, Placido, Trinidad, and Jose and his sister, Inez. A visitation, followed by a Rosary Service, will be held 2:00pm Sunday, June 20th at Connolly & Taylor, 4000 Alhambra Avenue, Martinez. Funeral services will be held 10:00am Monday, June 21st at St. Catherine's Church, 606 Mellus Street, Martinez. The family requests contributions to Hospice at www.VitasCharityFund.org be made in lieu of flowers.
