Edwin was a son of Edwin Martin Pierce and Martha Ann Kenyon. He married Delia Jane Whipple on July 29, 1873. They had ten children; four sons, four daughters and two unnamed stillborn infants (one dying prior to 1900 and one dying before 1910). Edwin owned and operated the C. Everett Clark (contracting) Company of Chicago (Cook County), Illinois.
