Sandy is a descendant of George Inglis of Charleston South Carolina, a well known and loved waterfront merchant.
Sandy was a private in the Army of the Confederate States, inlisting May 12, 1862. He was captured at Vicksburg, Miss. July 4, 1863, and exchanged there September 9, 1863. He was wounded in the battle of Jonesboro, Georgia August 31, 1864. After being wounded he was at home on furlough when the war ended.
He died peacefully at home in Clarkesville, Ga. June 1, 1922.
