Samuel Cowden (1744-1792) served as a private in the 1st company, 6th battalion, Philadelphia Company militia. He was born in Ireland; died in Montgomery County, Pa., and is buried in Providence Cemetery. His wife was Mary (1736-1792). They had a son named Thomas (1775-1847) who married Hannah COUCH (d/o Edward LANE 1721-1798 and Ann EVANS b. 1725; 1778-1850; married 1798). Thomas and Hannah had a daughter named Mary B. (1816-1894) who married Moses ANGE (1811-1892). Mary and Moses' daughter was Ella M. born in Norristown, PA.
