BROOKSTON - Russell J. Morehouse, 89, formerly of Rt. 2, died at 12:40 AM Monday, Jan. 4, 1993, in St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. Born Sept. 22, 1903, in Badger Grove, Prairie Township, he graduated from Brookston High School in 1921, and attended Ball State University. He married Edna May Chilton on Dec. 23, 1924, at Badger Grove; she died May 18, 1983.

Mr. Morehouse was a prominent Badger Grove farmer, retiring in 1984. He owned three Hoosier Homestead farms, was a former member of Prairieland Community Housing Board of Directors, and Prairie Township Advisory Board. He received the Round Grove Outstanding Person of the Year Award. He was at Heritage Healthcare from November 1990 until October 1991, and had been at St. Elizabeth Health Care since Nov. 2, 1992.

He was a member of Badger Grove Community Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School teacher, church superintendent, and honorary deacon. He was a 50-year member and past master of Octagon Masonic Lodge 511.

Surviving are a son, Don Morehouse of Rt. 2, Brookston; two daughters, June (Mrs. Tom) Carter of Rt. 1, Brookston, and Joy (Mrs. Neal) Carlson of Warsaw; a brother, Roscoe Morehouse of Noblesville; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by two grandchildren, two brothers , and two sisters.
