Catherine Kocher, 82, Longtime Norwalk Teacher

Catherine Kocher, age 82, of Norwalk, died peacefully at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford on Tuesday, April 2, 2012.

She was the wife of the late George J. Kocher.
Catherine was born in Utica, MI (sic), daughter of the late Charles C. and Lourah Mae Embry Magee and has lived locally for most of her life. She was retired from the Norwalk School System where she had taught at the McGrath, Roosevelt, Marvin and Naramake schools. Catherine was very active with St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Norwalk and also enjoyed going to the YMCA.

Survivors include two step-daughters, Alice Procacinni and Barbara Zahlman, 6 step-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her brother Charles Magee, her sister Patricia Robison and her step-son Douglas Kocher.

Services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 11 AM at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 208 Newtown Ave., Norwalk with Pastor Robert Beinke officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Catherine's family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Thursday from 9-10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT, 06405.
