Our kind and beloved mother, mumsie, great-grandmother and friend, Myrtle Sheba Jensen Curtis, age 100, died December 7, 1996, in Richfield, Utah. She was most recently honored at her 100th birthday party at the Richfield Care Center, by her family and friends.

She was born November 16, 1896, in Salina, Utah, a daughter of Hans and Josephine B. Andersen Jensen. Her father operated a blacksmith shop and was the town marshal in Salina. Her family moved to Aurora when she was in sixth grade. She took organ and voice lessons every week. She married Earl J. Curtis, January 10, 1917, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died April 4, 1979. She and her husband resided in Aurora, Clear Creek, Salt Lake City and Richfield.

While in Salt Lake City, she belonged to a singing group called The Orpheus Club and one of the group's activities was to sing for a program during the Days of '47 Celebration.

While living in Richfield, she has been a member of the Sevier Stake Sunday School Board, Stake Relief Society Board, Stake Genealogical Board and ward Relief Society President. She was an active member of the Republican Party. Myrtle has been an avid crocheter and each of her grandchildren has one of her afghans made expressly for them by mumsie.

She is the mother of six children, Beth Beckstead of Sandy, Garr and Faye Curtis of Richfield, Madge and Robert Ricker of San Benito, Texas; Paul J. and Ann Curtis of Salt Lake City, Wayne Curtis and Donna June Curtis, both deceased; nine grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Robert Beckstead and Robert Owen Ricker; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters, Wilford Jensen, Willis Jensen, Marilla Oliver, Maletta Sorenson, Percinda Crane and Clarissa Sorenson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996, at 12 noon in the Richfield 8th LDS Ward Chapel, 210 East Center Street, Richfield. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield on Monday from 6:30-8 p.m. and at the ward chapel on Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the services. Myrtle will be buried next to her eternal companion, Earl, in the Aurora City Cemetery in Aurora, Utah.
