Alice was the daughter of Ed and Dora Malone Brewer. She married J. D. Locklear on Jan. 20, 1906 in the Burnt Swamp section of Robeson County, North Carolina.

The following was taken from the May 8, 1957 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Locklear, 67, who died at her home, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Mount Airy Baptist church. Rev. L. W. Jacobs officiated.

Musice was furnished by Miss Mary Jane Locklear and Miss Janice Lowry.

Pallbearers were Herbert Locklear, Lee Alford Locklear, Lonnie Locklear, Vander Clark, John D. Locklear and Joseph Locklear.

Mrs. Rose Carter was in charge of the floral designs.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Stella Locklear, Mrs. Willie Mae Locklear, Mrs. Susie Locklear of Pembroke, and Mrs. Blannie Wilkins of Shannon; five sons, Dewey, Stanley, Grant, Winford of Pembroke, and Tommie of Fort Beening, Ga.; four sisters, Mrs. Oma Locklear, Mrs. Teat Locklear, Miss Mittie Brewer and Mrs. Mark Hunt of Pembroke; three brothers, Jim Brewer, Duncan Brewer of Pembroke, and Bill Brewer of Columbus, Ohio; thirty-five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
