VERNON V. Y. BURFORD, 74, of Ashland, Miss., formerly of Memphis, retired purchasing agent for Steelcraft Corp., died Tuesday at his home. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at C. O. Pate Funeral Home in Senatobia, Miss., with burial in Longtown Cemetery near Crenshaw, Miss. He was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church.

Mr. Burford, the husband of Elizabeth D. Burford, also leaves a daughter, Margaret A. Mangum of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a son, James Burford of Memphis; two sisters, Mildred Goodwin of Senatobia and Bess M. Bratton of Memphis; three brothers, Bryant Burford, Fred Burford and Will Burford, all of Crenshaw, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
